How do I care for my KittyMaille? Please no cat answers...

 - Keep jewelry away from household cleaners and chlorine.

 - When not wearing your jewelry, store each piece in its own Ziploc® or soft fabric bag. Keep in a dark place. This reduces tarnish, keeps the metal from being scratched, and preserves colored rings longer.

 - Always handle your jewelry gently. Remember that our chainmaille links are not soldered closed, and can therefore be pulled open. Treat your chainmaille just as you would handle a delicate pearl necklace or crystal bracelet.

 - Your jewelry can pick up dirt, oil, and even odors. To clean anodized aluminum, soak jewelry in soapy water (use non-lotion dishwashing soap) for several minutes.  Then lather with soap and gently but briskly rub the jewelry between your palms. Rinse with warm water and let air dry, or use a blow dryer on lowest and coolest setting.

 - Anodized rings may fade with time. For most jewelry pieces this won't happen for a very long time. However, with pieces that often encounter high-friction situations (ie, finger rings), the process will happen faster. Storing your jewelry in a Ziploc® or soft fabric bag helps minimize discoloration.

 - NEVER use polishing crèmes or cloths because they may remove the color from anodized rings.

I heard that you donate a portion of all profits to no-kill shelters, is that true?

Yes.  Starting in 2013, 10% of all profits will benefit No-Kill Shelters in the Lehigh Valley.  We love supporting The Cat Shack, a rescue in the Lehigh Valley area with whom we are currently listed as foster caregivers.  Peaceable Kingdom, is another great shelter where we adopted the 3 cats we currently live with.  We suggest donating to all of them if you can.

We will also be holding specific promotions where larger percentages will go to shelters as well.

Can I order a collar for an animal that's not a cat?

Certainly!  With the understanding that currently our collars are jewelry and are NOT designed to work with leads(leashes).  The safety clasps we use on our cat collars are designed to release if the cat applies enough pressure.  Since the anodized aluminum is relatively strong, we would hate to see an animal being caught by its collar and unable to escape a bad situation.

By the same token, we would hate to hear that an owner attached a leash to a collar with a safety clasp and had their precious pet escape/run away.

I saw you at XXXXXXX event, and I just wanted to know - where did you get your ears and tail?

The ears and tails worn by the KittyMaille staff are all ordered from Pawstar.  They're a great business who frequents many conventions for otaku, geeks, furries, and other really awesome people.  If you'd like to get yourself or someone you love a pair, you can visit their website at http://www.pawstar.com.  We highly recommend their ears and tails.  Their products are durable and very well constructed.  I've had mine (which I've worn very frequently) for over 3 years so far and they're still holding up fantastically.

Can I talk to your cat again?
